Halloween Club Day – Bring a FRIEND! – October 30th 6:00-8:00pm – Minoru Pool

Please join us on October 30th at Minoru pool from 6:00-8:00pm. We will have a prize for the spookiest costume as well as our Junior and Senior athletes will be leading the sessions. Our hope is that your child will have fun while being inspired by our remarkable leaders.

Summer Synchro Rocks Porvincials

 

This past week on August 15 and 16, our summer synchro athletes competed at the BCSSA Provincial meet in Surrey. The girls have been working hard all summer to prepare for this competition, and their hard work definitely paid off! Our two teams, beginner and intermediate, had their best-ever performances, blowing us all away with their big smiles and synchronized routines. For the team event, the beginner group finished in 4th place, and the intermediate group placed 2nd! Figures were equally as awesome, with many of our intermediate girls receiving top ten placings and even podium! Overall, we are so proud of these girls and cannot wait to see what they accomplish next this fall!

Concussion Recovery Recommendations

Concussions are an unfortunate reality for many athletes. Especially those involved in contact sports. Fortunately, doctors around the world are always looking for ways to better prevent and recover from concussions! Here are a few nutritional tips for helping with concussion recovery!

Foods to eat:
-fruits & low starch vegetables
-lean proteins 
-Omega-3s (fish + nuts)
-whole grains
-oils and spices

Foods to avoid
-processed food
-refined sugars
-refined grains
-artificial colours and flavours
-alcohol and caffeine
-sugary beverages

Basically, eat with the goal of promoting cell activity, cellular repair, and reducing inflammation. It should also be noted that an athlete suffering from a concussion should reduce their intake of carbohydrates, up their protein intake and drink plenty of water!

Of course, this also strongly depends on the severity of the injury, and no injury or person are the same, so anyone suffering from a concussion should always consult a Registered Sport Dietician to plan their personal recovery!
